New smartwatch powered by body heat never needs charging

A new smartwatch announced, the Matrix PowerWatch, is powered by body heat and, according to the device's creators, never requires charging.

The PowerWatch is capable of tracking most of what other fitness wearables can, including the amount slept, calories burned, your level of activity and more. The face of the PowerWatch tells the time, but also includes a “power meter which displays how much electrical power you are generating.”

The PowerWatch can store a year of data Matrix, the company behind the watch, says it can store a year's worth of personal data. And you don't have to worry about losing everything if you decide to take it off. Yes, the watch will power off when it's not being worn, but data will be saved to memory first. While it doesn't appear to have the ability to track your swims, it's water resistant to up to 50 meters.

The device just hit Indiegogo, where early backers can reserve one for $99. The Matrix PowerWatch is expected to ship in July when it will retail for $169.
